Meet the Author...HA Hutson grew up in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia with an avid interest in folklore and culture.
In the Appalachian’s a favored pastime was telling scary stories by the firelight or while driving down dark country roads. A child of that culture, no one knows better that there is nothing spookier than not knowing what lies in wait just beyond the light and there’s nothing more thrilling than stepping into that inky darkness to find out! Raised in the mountains of Giles County she graduated from the local high school and would later attended New River Community College for business management which then set her on a course she never expected to take. Ms. Hutson won scholarships for her writing talent and went on to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree from Hollins University in creative Writing and English with a minor in photography. Once again the path didn’t end there, but she would also attend Full Sail University for screen writing. |
Honey raised two biological children and two step children in the mountains of nearby Craig County. All told those children have seven grandchildren among them. She's the author of six published books and a soon to be released seventh novel called Dark Contessa. There is also a short story collection, poetry, and the soon to be released book of essays called Deep Thoughts and Shallow Graves. She also creates cover designs and occasionally works as a freelance editor for both publishers in the US and abroad. Her past times are photography, writing and kayaking. For inspiration camping in remote woods (what better place to write than by a campfire on a dark night).
With four local grandchildren to corrupt and a centuries old home to maintain, life in the mountains is busy. But come nightfall the stories come to tell their tales and demand to be heard. So join her on the journey into the unknown; the dark, damp woodsy hollows and cold lakes of the wilderness that's the focal point of these stories. Clamber through dusty, musty rooms, up creaking stairs and crawl through earthy basements and caves to find out what really inhabits the dark.
